Research Professional – Data Processing / Health Sciences

IID (Institute Intelligence and Data) of Université Laval is looking for a research professional – Data Processing / Health Sciences to participate in research projects involving the application of artificial intelligence methods to health initiatives, under the supervision of Professor Christian Gagné, in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Université Laval.

Description of the Position

The candidate will use artificial intelligence data analysis strategies in research projects of our partner research centers in close collaboration with the research teams involved. He or she will work with researchers working in fundamental and clinical research and will be called upon to apply artificial intelligence to various types of data, such as biomedical images, data from sensors and systems involving the analysis of neuro-physiological signals and large databases (public and private) requiring complex analyses.

Research area: Big data processing, Unbalanced data processing, Supervised and weakly supervised deep learning with little data. Supervised and unsupervised machine learning.

The candidate will be called upon to participate in various activities organized by the partner research centres. He or she will also participate in activities with the team of IID research professionals: discussing problems encountered, developing solutions, sharing expertise and transferring knowledge.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The Category II research professional participates in the identification of the objectives of the research project and the analysis of the results. He or she carries out the studies and research resulting from these objectives and the subsequent analysis of the results.

  • He or she performs the main tasks of a research project and can assist the principal researcher in other research activities. (II.a)
  • He or she works under minimal supervision for many tasks and is responsible for the quality and relevance of the results received from the people he or she supervises. (II.b)
  • He or she plans the implementation and administration of data acquisition tools or systems. (II.d)
  • He or she may be called upon to improve or adapt already existing methods. (II.d)
  • He or she participates in the training and supervision of students and research professionals involved in the research project. (II.e)
  • He or she analyzes and interprets research results according to intended or customary methods and disseminates the results. He or she may be called upon to write reports. (II.f)
  • He or she can perform various administrative tasks related to the project. (II.g)
  • The Category I research professional performs a variety of research tasks that generally require specialized knowledge. (I.a)

Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Independent researcher, excellent teamwork and multidisciplinary skills, experience in life sciences or biomedical research, experience in the application of artificial intelligence to health sciences would be an asset.

Details concerning the Work Schedule

The work schedule will be determined through an agreement with the principal researcher.

The research professional will also report to a scientific committee formed by the scientific directors of the partner research centers.

 

Hourly Salary

From $25.26 to $39.28
