Opportunities for businesses
A comprehensive expertise in artificial intelligence and data science
IID represents a stimulating collaborative environment for any organization (business) in the greater Quebec City area wishing to support its position in the face of digital transformation challenges. Through the expertise of IID researchers and that of its founding centers, as well as the infrastructure of the Université Laval campus, the Institute offers comprehensive expertise in data science and AI.
Collaboration and Partnership Offers
IID (Institute Intelligence and Data) is a privileged gateway for businesses wishing to collaborate with academia, to develop tailor-made initiatives, partnerships or joint projects supported by various research grants (NSERC, CIHR, Prompt and many others).
Collaborating with IID provides easy access to Université Laval’s facilities, infrastructure and research expertise in artificial intelligence and data valorization, to the research expertise in a variety of fields on campus, and to the support of high-level technical teams.
Offer of interns for businesses (Master’s and Ph.D. students)
IID (Institute Intelligence and Data) has an internship capacity of up to $6.8M over five years, facilitated by the financial support of Mitacs. These internships can be carried out either within collaborative research projects or as part of the professional Master’s degree in computer science – artificial intelligence.
This Master’s program provides its students with real-world skills through practical internships. In collaboration with IID, businesses can propose and develop various internship projects that will be offered as part of the Master’s program, under the supervision of a university research professional.
Support for businesses
As part of its vocation as a center of excellence in artificial intelligence, IID (Institute Intelligence and Data) is ready to provide the keys to successful digital transformation for businesses in the greater Quebec City area that meet certain criteria. This support will enable businesses to exploit the full potential of their data, to improve their capacity for innovation in relation to AI and to develop their skills in the field.
Through various government-funded programs, IID data scientists can offer businesses a variety of support options – from consultations of a few hours, to support over a period of several days.
Development of 5G projects in a pre-commercial context
As part of the ENCQOR project, IID (Institute Intelligence and Data) has been overseeing the 5G innovation site in Quebec since August 2020. This program, which is supported by the governments of Quebec, Canada and Ontario, brings together five multinational companies (Ericsson, Ciena, Thales, CGI and IBM) to support the development of 5G expertise and innovative projects.
SMBs are welcome to join us at the 5G innovation site based in the Technological Park of Metropolitan Quebec, to experiment with and take advantage of the antenna and pre-commercial systems in the context of short and medium-term projects. SMBs are also invited to take part in the various training programs and activities offered on site.
IID researchers and partners have access to various databases that can support research activities or business development, in the context of collaborative projects. In this way, the Institute actively contributes to the enhancement of the research data collected by the university community and its partners, and supports access to these datasets as well as their use.
As part of their projects, several Institute Intelligence and Data researchers have developed training databases, some of which are available for public and open use.
For example, over the course of his work, our researcher Jean-François Lalonde has developed three databases related to high-resolution imagery and lighting analysis for indoor and outdoor environments, as well as for the tracking of objects by digital vision.
You are welcome to consult these databases:
Several databases are accessible within the framework of academic projects carried out by researchers at Université Laval and their content is constantly improved and developed by various entities of the educational institution.
In particular, the PULSAR collaborative research and innovation space in sustainable health has been placed online by Université Laval. An accelerator in this innovative field, PULSAR aims to improve the health and well-being of the population through collaborative research involving data based on secure and high-performance technological infrastructures.
The Centre GéoStat of the Université Laval Library provides access to a wide range of statistical and geographic resources, supported by the expertise of consulting librarians.
Promote the excellence of research in AI and data sciences at Université Laval
IID promotes the achievements of its researchers and students in academia, business networks, public institutions and the population, through numerous disseminations, knowledge transfers and popular science activities. An enriching program of events, offered together with the collaboration of various regional, national and international partners, allows the Institute to actively contribute to bringing this niche to life, at the regional level and beyond.
Learn more about upcoming IID events
Each week, IID (Institute Intelligence and Data) as well as its founding centers offer various activities and conferences promoting the work of its students and researchers. Seminars, virtual or face-to-face conferences, training activities and more.
