Last September, our member Philippe Després, also deputy director of the Big Data Research Center (CRDM), was appointed member of the Council of Researchers of the New Digital Research Infrastructure Organization (NDRIO).
Bringing together 22 multidisciplinary researchers, the Council of Researchers is a critical element of the mission of NDRIO, whose ambition is to mobilize researchers, in the context of the development of a new service model to support the new Canadian strategy of Digital research infrastructure (DRI).
This impressive group of visionaries and strategic thinkers have years of diverse research experience and expertise in advanced computing which cover a broad spectrum involving research, research software, and data management. The contributions of this group of researchers will be invaluable to the board and management of NDRIO which collaborates to assess the needs of researchers, to develop the first strategic plan of NDRIO and to support the growth of NDRIO.
“The Council of Researchers must address several key tasks, including the definition of NDRIO’s mission statement, the development of a work plan and the assessment of the needs of researchers”, declares the interim president of the Council of Researchers, Guillaume Bourque. “Assessing the needs of researchers is a critical part of NDRIO’s first strategic plan, which will be based on extensive consultations and important contact activities with the research community.”
