2nd call for innovative research projects from OBVIA: two initiatives by IID researchers selected
OBVIA announces funding for six new research projects on the societal impacts of AI and digital technology as part of the second phase of their call for innovative projects. Among these, two projects, led by IID researchers Philippe Després and Pierre-Luc Déziel, were selected.
On July 10 the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of AI and Digital Technology (OBVIA) announced the funding of six new research projects on the societal impacts of artificial intelligence and digital technology as part of the second phase of their call for innovative projects. These one- to three-year projects will each receive funding of $ 130,000.
The projects submitted within this second phase of the call for innovative projects were evaluated by an international and multidisciplinary committee.
Among the projects selected, we would like to highlight the two initiatives led by IID member researchers, Pierre-Luc Déziel (Faculty of Law), and Philippe Després (Faculty of Science and Engineering).
Here is some more information on these projects:
Towards a synergistic approach to the dematerialization of judicial files
Objective: Support the Quebec Ministry of Justice (MJQ) by developing, in collaboration with the Ministry, a framework for the management of personal information contained in digital legal files and proposing real, innovative and technical solutions to the issues raised by the dematerialization of legal files with respect to privacy concerns.
Principal Investigators : Pierre-Luc Déziel (Université Laval) and Karim Benyekhlef (Université de Montréal)
Design and implementation of new governance models in the digital health age
Objective: Develop a data governance model promoting responsible innovation for the benefit of all stakeholders (citizens, researchers and decision-makers) for the PULSAR ecosystem of Université Laval, which assumes a central role in the management of data from research collected with a relatively broad consent to study sustainable health.
Principal Investigators: Pierre-Luc Déziel (Université Laval) and Philippe Després (Université Laval).
