Université Laval's Institut on intelligence and Data and IVADO become academic partners

The Institute Intelligence and Data (IID) at Université Laval and the Institute for Data Valorization (IVADO) are proud to announce the signing of an academic partnership agreement aimed at strengthening the existing collaborative ties between the two institutes.

This partnership aims to promote the transfer and enrichment of knowledge, collaborative research and innovation in digital intelligence in Québec in a multitude of fields of application, from Industry 4.0 to the Internet of Things (IoT), from intelligent devices to sensor networks, from the smart city to medical imaging.

“The IID and IVADO have chosen to establish this academic partnership In a spirit of complementarity and collaboration. We are certain it will enable us to even better leverage our networks of expertise to serve Québec’s industrial and academic ecosystems,” explains Christian Gagné, Director of the IID. “Data is a key sector for our province, and this agreement will allow us to support both emergence of new technologies in our companies and the development of cutting-edge expertise related to data valorization.”

Via this agreement, the IID and IVADO plan to organize joint events, promote the development of interdisciplinary research partnerships between the IID’s researchers and IVADO’s industrial members, and expand the pool of students trained in digital intelligence in order to meet Québec’s labour force needs.

Gilles Savard, Chief Executive Officer, IVADO, says: “This new academic partnership with the IID strengthens our long-standing collaboration with the Université Laval research network. The thematic closeness of our two institutes, as well as the complementary expertise of our members, is a considerable asset for the development of knowledge and talent and the advancement of collaborative research in digital intelligence in Quebec. It is also part of a perspective of better coordination of our respective activities for a simplified offer for Quebec organizations.”

One of the first substantive initiatives to emerge from this partnership was the January 21, 2021, launch of IID-IVADO’s Midis-Santé, a series of public webinars focusing on key issues associated with the use of health data. All Midis-Santé webinars are available by following this link. The fifth edition of Midis-Santé (in French), titled “Patients Partenaires et données – Accessibilité, confidentialité et usages de nos données” (Patient-partners and data – accessibility, privacy and uses of our data), will close the first season of the series with an expert panel on May 20.
