Denis Laurendeau is the Director of the Computer Vision and Systems Laboratory (CVSL). He also holds an NSERC-Creaform Industrial Research Chair on 3D Scanning. He was the founder and director of the REPARTI strategic network of the FRQ-NT from 2006 to 2019 and of the REPARTI-ULaval Research Center (now CeRVIM) from 2012 to 2019. From 2004 to 2014, he was a member of the executive committee of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), of which he was president from 2010 to 2012. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Member of the IEEE and of the Order of Engineers of Quebec.
His research interests focus on 2D and 3D machine vision, virtual/augmented reality, and applications of machine vision in industry, medicine and the arts.
