Full Professor, Faculty of Social Sciences
Director, Co-DOT Laboratory

Co-founder and director of the Professional Master’s program in intelligence and transformation at Université Laval and director of the Co-DOT laboratory, Sébastien Tremblay holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology (1999) from Cardiff University and has completed a postdoc within the context of a partnership between Cardiff and the British Defense Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA; now QinetiQ). Full professor at Université Laval since 2001 and honorary professor at Cardiff University in the United Kingdom, his research program focuses on human interaction with technologies, in particular adaptive systems where humans must collaborate with a smart agent. The goal of his research is to maximize human performance and well-being across a wide range of fields including security, emergency medicine, transportation, sports and entertainment.

His work is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the Fonds de recherche du Québec, industry (Thales, Ubisoft, OVA, Lü and CAE) and various other organizations.

As part of the Excellence in Teaching Awards 2011-2012, the Graduate Supervision Award in the humanities, social sciences, arts and letters sector was awarded to Sébastien Tremblay, Full professor in the School of Psychology at the Faculty of Social Sciences. This prize recognizes the outstanding commitment of a professor to the supervision of graduate students and rewards his educational initiatives.
